The secret is about to be revealed..... Getting the ammonia out of your cloth diapers!!!

I REALLY think I have done it.
I have tried every single suggestion.
I have tried every single product marketed towards this issue.
BUT....
I have been stink free for over a week!!!

Are you ready to hear my secret?
Are you ready to NOT have to buy anything special?
Are you ready to just get in your car and drive around the corner to your local grocery store or Wal-mart and pick up these 3 products?

Are you ready for me to shut the hell up and just tell you already?
OK OK

You will need:
Dawn original (I used Dawn with oxy)
Tide (I used original powder)
Washing Soda (made by Arm & Hammer)

Here is how I did it:
Largest load setting you have.
Hot/Cold wash with an extra rinse setting

1st wash:
Squirt freely the Dawn in the running water
measure roughly 1/8 cup of Tide and put in wash
Insert dirty diapers.

2nd wash:
Largest load and Hot/Cold setting w/extra rinse again.
measure 1/4 cup washing soda and 1/4 cup of Tide

I hang dry my pockets and throw my inserts in dryer.

Voila!

This is my new wash routine and like I said...I have been ammonia free for over a week now!!

I really truly hope that this will work for you too!

I love my Planet powder detergent and haven't ever had the stink everyone talks about.

E did develop this weird skin thing that was a mix between a rash and some bacterial infection... that I caught from her bum and had on my hand.

We cleared the rash up and have been using handmade diaper liners while she's using the rash cream. I've done a few good strippings with dawn since. Not sure it it's helped or if ammonia but it is similar to what you've done. Minus the tide.

Is the tide okay for cloth?

Yay! So glad you figured out a way to get rid of the stink! If only my washer wasn't HE... The only negative is washing diapers, otherwise I love it.

I did this in my front-loading HE washer and it worked PERFETLY.

For you front-loading users wary to use this method bc of all the suds --- powdered Tang drink mix run through a short wash cycle of an empty washer will rid it of the soapy residue. Straight from the repairman's mouth!!
