Zealand was only 14 months old when Kingsley was born, so he obviously didn't have many questions for me. He has however shown some signs of jealousy throughout these past 22 months of me nursing Kingsley.
I am in awe of breastfeeding books. I love that we can take a story and that it can really truly hit home. I love that my children see this book, when we sit down and read and re-read and re-read it and they feel this is a completely normal book to read!
The author uses the terms breasts and booby in the book to show that terms are loosely yet commonly interchanged. He also (yes! HE) notes points on pumping and having a special "Feeding Time Toys".
I think the story hits home with the majority of the moms that come to chat during #BfCafe. I think this book would be an AMAZING baby shower gift for a mom who is expecting her second child. I really, really love this book. It is so simply written, that any toddler would not only understand that concept but as a Mom, you can see that these exact conversations probably happened within your own home. The colors and illustrations are definitely eye-catching and page turning!
This week I wanna talk about how to nurse when you have an older sibling.
What about tandem nursing, when you have to offer breast more
with a newborn than with the older child?
I know with me, even though I was no longer nursing Zealand when Kingsley came, when he asked to nurse, I let him.
When he wanted to sit on my lap, we all sat together.
Let's also talk about the importance of teaching our children the benefits of nursing at a young age and how we can do it.
